Procedure to Cary pet small animals (Dogs Cats etc.) along..
1. Have to get a medical clearance certificate saying that the animal is fir to be transported. This certificate has to be obtained from a Government Veterinary Doctor.
2. Produce the certificate along with a filled in form for luggage booking and your travel details in the Railway parcel office to the officer in charge and pay the associated fees.
3.

A receipt/way bill copy is attached to the animal's neck.
4. Take the animal to the train in which you are travelling to the Guard's coach, usually in the tail of the train.
5. The parcel officer would come and handover details to the Guard.
6. Put the animal in the built-in cage that is provided in the guard's compartment (Pic enclosed)
7. Lock the door of the cage and proceed to your seats/coaches for your travel
8. Get down from the train at desired station, get assistance from Guard and local parcel office to get your animal released to you.

:) Are you sure snakes are considered as pets in India ? I just read that its illegal to have a snake as pet in India. So no transportation would be allowed by the passengers.

Yeah, that's a usual case. They let go off snake charmers since its their living has been part of Indian culture. But I am just thinking if we go with a snake, I don;t think they would allow. Moreover if we are growing a snake as a pet it woudl create lot of legal issues I guess.

..pet should be allowed to be accompanied by the one of the owner in the guards cabin...it is very difficult and somehow not good to leave a pet in unknown surroundings in a small cage and then not be able to accompany it too...and if it is a long journey even more so..

These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
