Yes correct railway passengers turning to flights paying more fares because of the unpunctual /poor decision making/poor administration nature of work in IR in last few years.
1. Accidents in IR in last few years increased in huge numbers causing delay, diversion and cancellation of passenger trains and passengers suffering. People to save their time and work prefering flights.
2. In the name of 130 kmph, 160 kmph, mission raftar, ZBTT, etc, IR in last few years have reduced train speed. Most of the premium trains is slowed down in end to end...
more... travel with high flexi fare. Passengers turning to flights.
3. IR not understanding area demography, public requirements, etc and introducing such trains which are not required for that place or with odd arrival/departure timings or odd TT. Some train categories introduced in last few years like Antodaya, Humsafar, etc are not able to fulfil passenger needs.
4. The flecifare system in IR has made Train and Flight fares in many sectors nearby or equal. So, to save time passengers turning to flights.
There r many such points which IR must think seriously to bring back its passengers lost to flights
