THANE(KALWA): If all goes as planned, Kalwa and Mumbra will become the first stations in the country to have free Wi-Fi facilities for commuters. Minister Jitendra Awhad announced this on Monday in Thane, saying commuters could use the facility from Tuesday. He said this was part of his plans to ensure better services to the stations that were often neglected by the railways and the civic body.
According to Awhad, the Wi-Fi routers have been installed outside the station premises that will cover the entire platform network at both the stations. Commuters will be given a log-in and a password. He said a company involved in providing a similar facility at an international airport had been roped in for this service adding...

"The aim is to give internet service to lakhs of commuters using the stations daily. Commuters can log on to the internet and check status of trains, reservation status and also complete their personal work on devices like mobiles, tablets or laptops," said Sanjay Gupta, station in-charge of Kalwa.
