The CBI laid a trap and caught the ASI and DMS red-handed accepting bribes of ₹9000 and ₹8200, respectively. Both were arrested and produced before the Special Judge Anti Corruption CBI Court (West), Lucknow. The CBI conducted searches at their residences and recovered incriminating documents. Akash Yadav complained that he had purchased 50 metric tons of railway scrap from Alam Bagh Store with his cousin, and had already removed 22 metric tons. ASI Manoj Rai demanded ₹1000 per truck, ₹150 per ton, and ₹300 for the duty staff. DMS Aviral Kumar demanded ₹800 per truck and ₹100 per ton. When Yadav couldn't fulfill these demands, he was harassed. Even after paying for the remaining 28 metric tons and getting permission for cutting, Yadav was abused and threatened by ASI Manoj Rai. Yadav also reported that he was being pressured by both individuals for the entire payment for both the previous and current lots, demanding ₹12,800 from Manoj Rai and ₹8,200 from Aviral Kumar. This demand was being made to Yadav's cousin, Vikas Yadav, who interacted with them for work-related matters.

Separately, the CBI arrested Vinod Kumar, a postal assistant stationed at Nanpara, Bahraich, on Thursday for accepting a ₹20,000 bribe. CCTV footage, police found that Mansharam was alone when he went towards the gallery, leading them to suspect suicide. The blood-stained knife found at the scene was sent for fingerprint analysis. Mansharam was a peon at the indoor hospital and had arrived for duty around 9:30 AM. He was found around 12 PM, with his colleagues finding him injured and reporting it to the hospital's CMS. He was then taken to the hospital but was declared dead after suffering significant blood loss due to the deep knife wound on his neck. The ACP, Cant, Pawan Kumar, stated that the police investigated after receiving information about the employee's body and reviewed CCTV footage. The footage revealed that Mansharam was alone when he went towards the gallery. The area where the body was found lacked CCTV coverage. Based on the circumstances, the police suspect suicide. They also found a knife with bloodstains and initial investigations suggest it belonged to Mansharam. The knife has been sent to the forensic lab for fingerprint matching. Mansharam's son, Kailash, reported that he received a call from the hospital informing him of his father's ill health. When Kailash and his mother arrived at the hospital, they found Mansharam's body. Mansharam, who hailed from Uttarakhand's Chamoli village, lived in Ashyana Rajnikhand, Lucknow. He left home in the morning, appearing cheerful, but the family is unaware of what transpired after he arrived at the hospital.
