I read the article but I disagree with many claims that buses are the needs of Tier 2 cities in India and not metros. First, so called "Tier 2" cities in India will be major population hubs in most other countries in terms of population. In no other country, will cities with the population the size of Jaipur, Lucknow be called Tier 2. In Jaipur, the government messed up by creating metro on a non optimized route and second, by not expanding it. In Lucknow, it actually does see ridership and is even full[4 coaches long the rake is] during certain times. The government however has only just now sanctioned the second stretch to connect the really old parts of the city where there are regular jams and it takes atleast 20+ minutes to reach any location. People will flock when a certain minimum threshold is reached for metro services[in terms...
more... of length build]. And it goes without saying, that the route should be properly chosen and not be a white elephant like the Jaipur one.

Bro, these so-called "Tier 2" cities in India are massive compared to lots of other places, you feel me? Like, Jaipur and Lucknow would be off the charts in other countries. The metro situation in Jaipur is a joke - messed up route and no expansion? Not cool. Lucknow's metro actually gets mad crowded at times, we're talking full trains with 4 coaches. The government finally approved a new stretch in Lucknow to hit up the old city areas where traffic be insane and it takes forever to get anywhere - like 20+ minutes minimum. People will start flocking to the metro when it's long enough and serves enough areas, ya know what I mean? And obviously, the route gotta be smart, not like that failed metro in Jaipur.

Sabse pehle, kehne ko "Tier 2" cities India mein bahut saare log base karte hain aur dusre deshon mein bhi is population ke saath urban area ko Tier 2 nahi bulaya jata. Kisi dusre desh mein, Jaipur ya Lucknow jaise cities ko Tier 2 nahi bulaya jata. Jaipur mein sarkar ne galat route par metro banaya aur dusra, use expand nahi kiya. Lucknow mein, log actually metro ka use karte hain aur kabhi samay par toh poora bhara hua hota hai. Sarkar abhi sirf doosre stretch ko sanction kar chuki hai purani shaher ke hisson ko connect karne ke liye, jahan regular jams hote hain aur kisi bhi jagah pahunchne mein kam se kam 20+ minute lagta hai. Log bus tab aake metro services ke taraf uchhalenge jab ek niyantran param seema ko paar kar liya jaye metro ke length ki suvidhaon mein. Aur yeh bina kuchh kahe bhi clear hai, ki route thik se chuna jana chahiye aur Jaipur wale ki tarah yeh white elephant nahi hona chahiye.
