Feb 07 (19:14)   Rajasthan's Mewar and Marwar Regions Await Crucial Rail Link

डीपीआर रेल मंत्रालय को भेजी जा चुकी, मंजूरी बाकी

The Mewar and Marwar regions of Rajasthan, India, are currently not directly connected by broad gauge railway lines. A 102 km gap remains between Devgarh-Madariya (Mewar) and Haripur (Marwar). The existing broad gauge line from Marwar Junction to Haripur (55km) needs to be connected to Devgarh-Madariya, where meter gauge...

conversion to broad gauge is underway and expected to complete by December 2026. A Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the 102km connection was submitted in May 2023, but funding hasn't been approved. Approval and inclusion in Mission Shakti would create a direct Jodhpur-Mewar connection, completing a 240km broad gauge track from Mavli to Marwar Junction. Currently, road transport via Pali is the only option. The conversion of the meter gauge track from Nathdwara to Devgarh-Madariya (funded with ₹225 crore in January 2023) will bring the broad gauge closer to completion. Electrification will happen concurrently. The 52km meter gauge line between Khamli Ghat and Marwar Junction is designated as heritage and won't be converted; it hosts heritage trains. The Mewar Rail Vikas Parishad has been advocating for this connection for 15 years.

Rajasthan ke Mewar aur Marwar region ab tak broad gauge se seedha connect nahin hain. Devgarh-Madariya (Mewar) aur Haripur (Marwar) ke beech 102 km ka gap hai. Marwar Junction se Haripur tak 55 km ka broad gauge line pehle se hai, lekin Devgarh-Madariya tak meter gauge ko broad gauge mein badla...

ja raha hai, December 2026 tak complete hone ki ummeed hai. 102 km track ke liye DPR May 2023 mein bheji gayi thi, lekin budget mein ispe dhyan nahin diya gaya. Abhi sirf road transport hai. Nathdwara se Devgarh-Madariya tak meter gauge ko broad gauge mein badalne ke liye January 2023 mein ₹225 crore approve hue the. Khamli Ghat aur Marwar Junction ke beech 52 km heritage line hai, ise broad gauge nahin kiya jayega. Mewar Rail Vikas Parishad iske liye 15 saal se koshish kar rahi hai.

by converting a section to heritage, it has been become a choke point. Since new alignment needs new survey and new environmental clearance. The heritage section is not leading to any meaningful earnings for Railways or the Tourism sector here. This should be scrapped and GC should be done for this section also.

3.9 किमी लंबे मारवाड़ बाइपास को विशेष रेल परियोजना का दर्जा, कोई काम नहीं अटकेगा

The Indian Railway Ministry has declared the 3.9km Marwar bypass project in Rajasthan a special railway project. This follows the earlier approval of the 51km Pushkar-Merta line. This is really good news. However equally important project is bilara-bar missing link that would be the shortest route between Jodhpur and Ajmer and onwards to Udaipur and South-East India since there is no visibility on Marwar jn - Mavli GC

Mumbai: High time WR set up mega terminus beyond Virar, say commuter body members

Increased train connectivity to the city is planned, but experts warn of potential congestion and delays unless new termini and rail hubs are built outside the city limits. Central Railway (CR) is developing a large terminus at Panvel, while Western Railway (WR) plans termini at Jogeshwari and Vasai.

City mein zyada trains ka connection badhne wala hai, lekin experts kehte hain ki agar city ke bahar nayi termini aur rail hubs nahi banaye gaye toh traffic jam aur der hogi. Central Railway (CR) Panvel station pe ek bada terminus bana raha hai, aur Western Railway (WR) Jogeshwari aur Vasai...

Agree
No need to construct terminus at Dahanu. Instead of that Mega terminus should be constructed at Vasai road by taking over the salt pan land from Central Govt. This will lead to guaranteed benefit to WR by allowing 1 Cr population of Mumbai Western line to access trains to north, Central India and East India via Dahanu Nashik proposed link

Dec 20 2024 (19:21)   WR Commuter Group Opposes AC Local Train Cuts Amidst Political Pressure

Commuters urge WR not to curb AC services

Western Railway (WR) commuters, through the Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee (DRUCC), opposed a proposed reduction in AC local train services following political pressure from the Shiv Sena (UBT). The Sena protested the replacement of a non-AC train with an AC train at Bhayander station, citing low patronage of AC...

services. In response to the protest, WR increased coaches on two non-AC services. However, DRUCC argued that AC trains are at full capacity, particularly during peak hours between Borivali and Churchgate, and requested that an unused AC train from Central Railway (CR) be transferred to WR. WR currently operates nine AC trains, carrying 4% of passengers and generating 23% of revenue (approx. 125,000 daily commuters out of 2.9 million). CR, which operates six AC locals, rejected WR's request to transfer a new AC train, stating it's needed for their own services and to prevent weekend cancellations. The dispute highlights the tension between political pressure and the high demand for AC local train services on WR.

Western Railway (WR) ke commuters, Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee (DRUCC) ke through, Shiv Sena (UBT) ke political pressure ke baad AC local train services ko kam karne ke proposal ka virodh kiya hai. Sena ne Bhayander station pe ek non-AC train ko AC train se replace karne ka protest kiya,...

AC services ke kam use hone ka kehkar. Protest ke baad, WR ne do non-AC services mein coaches badha diye. Lekin, DRUCC ne argue kiya ki AC trains full capacity pe hain, khaas karke Borivali aur Churchgate ke beech peak hours mein, aur Central Railway (CR) se ek unused AC train ko WR mein transfer karne ka request kiya. WR currently nine AC trains chala raha hai, jo 4% passengers ko le jaate hain aur 23% revenue generate karte hain (approx. 125,000 daily commuters 2.9 million mein se). CR, jo six AC locals chala raha hai, ne WR ko apna new AC train transfer karne ke request ko reject kar diya, yeh kehkar ki yeh unki khud ki services aur weekend cancellations se bachne ke liye jaruri hai. Yeh dispute political pressure aur WR pe AC local train services ki high demand ke beech tension ko highlight karta hai.

WR should immediately add AC local services from Virar to Churchgate by removing the Goregaon semi fast local to Churchgate in the morning peak hours. Goregaon already has got many additional services that earlier used to originate from Andheri. This will also help in reducing the delays on the up fast line in morning since all the trains get bunched up due to Goregaon CCG semi fast locals that run too slow since they have to stop at Jogeshwari. There is also a crossover for these trains to reach on the East side platforms causing further delays.
